Hatching Days: What to Do in the Final Stage of Incubation
Adept Makine

The average incubation period for chicken eggs is 21 days. During the hatching period between days 18–21, the incubator lid must not be opened; drops in humidity and temperature cause chick losses.

Before hatching, humidity should be raised to 68–72% and eggs moved to a horizontal position. After chicks emerge, leave them in the machine until their feathers dry (usually 12–24 hours).

For eggs that haven't hatched, wait 1–2 more days after day 21, then candle them. Eggs appearing empty can be removed.
